Overview

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is a popular alternative to Everest Base Camp Trek that gives breathtaking views of the world’s tallest mountain. Everest, Lhotse, Cho- Yu, and other peaks, as well as a typical Sherpa culture, the gorgeous Gokyo Valley, Sherpa community tradition, historic monasteries, landscape, and nature.

The Everest Gokyo Lake Trek – 15 Day tour begins in Lukla with a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu. From Lukla, the trek takes us through the charming Sherpa villages of Phakding, Namche, Dole, and Gokyo. With dramatic views of the northwest face of Everest. Set amongst other giant peaks of the Everest range, as well as the world’s largest and deepest glaciers. The Ngozumpa and Khumbu glaciers.

Another remarkable feature of this journey is the stunning ice lake known as Gokyo Lake, which is located at 4757 meters.

We have a perfect opportunity to capture the beautiful experiences of the Khumbu region, the Sherpa population. And the grandeur of the environment and wildlife while hiking in this beautiful place! This is a relatively moderate hike trek in the Everest region. That can be done without any previous trekking or climbing experience. And does not require any technical assistance to be conquered as it has a better ascent path. Making an exciting ascent to Gokyo -Ri (5,357m) from where we can catch 360* spectacular views of the Himalayas range from here, including Everest (8848m), Makalu (8,481m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho-yu. Then continue down the trek to Machhermo, Namche, Manjo, and Lukla. Before taking a picturesque flight back to Kathmandu.

Gokyo and Gokyo Ri Trek

The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is a lovely excursion to the alluring Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri,. One of the most outstanding locations for great views of Everest and other Himalayan peaks.The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is a unique alternative to traditional Everest hikes. Instead, it leads us to the blue Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri. Which offers breathtaking views of Mount Everest and the Himalayas. From Gokyo Ri, we can also see the enormous Ngozumpa Glacier and the Gokyo valley.

The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri journey is designed for individuals who want to walk in the Everest region. Without the physical strain of climbing Everest’s base camp or crossing high passes nearby. Instead, it is for visitors who want to try something new in the Everest region.

Itinerary

01Day

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Our representative will come to the airport for transfer to the Hotel. After some refreshment in the hotel, Our Tour leader will conduct a pre departure meeting in the Hotel or at our office. The meeting will covers trip related information & the collecting your Documents (passport copy, 2 passport size photos, Travel insurance copy).

02Day

Kathmandu: Free day for Trek preparation.

Breakfast, free day for trek preparation. You can do your own activities OR, you can do sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley with visiting fascinating world heritage and cultural sites. There are few places that are worth to visit such as Hindus holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Durbar Squire ( One is in Kathmandu, in patan and also in Bhaktapur), Museum,  monasteries, old historical Palaces and Gardens. Note:  this tour is optional so you can visit with place of your interest & pay locally. (Meals: B)

03Day

Fly to Lukla (2,886m-9,468 ft) & trek to Phakding (2,640m-8,661 ft) – 04 hrs.

Airport board in a small plane Dornier or Twin Otter, flight offers great views array of snow capped peaks with Mt. Everest as the plane touches down after 30 minutes of scenic flight to Lukla, a unique airstrip with a runway with uphill slope, Lukla airport at present named after legendry climber Tenzing & Hillary Airport. After spending some time here with meeting porter, We start the hiking to Phakding for overnight stop, the trek passes several villages and farm lands with great scenery of hills and valleys then finally reaching at Phakding village located by the Dudh Kosi (river). 04Day

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m-11,286 ft) – 06 hrs.

We follow the valley in the beginning and heads uphill at above 3,440 meters high at Namche Bazaar, starting the morning with crossing few suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river, and then reaching at an entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. After checking the Park & Trekking tickets and permits, further walk leads on the bank of the river, then after the last high bridge an uphill walk for few hours all the way to Namche Bazaar, here we will have two nights in this large prosperous trading town –village as well the main centre and capital of Khumbu area with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with busy colorful interesting Saturday market. (Meals: B,L,D)

05Day

Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.

An ideal and perfect place for rest day for acclimatization, We start after the breakfast to visit National park museum with great range of information about mountaineering, flora – fauna, Sherpa culture and religions, this scenic spot offers a grand panorama of high snow capped mountains including Mt. Everest and stunning Ama Dablam. We do hike further to syangboche and Everest View Hotel for another beautiful view spot of the surrounding mountains above old Syangboche air strip. and return back to Namche in the afternoon. (Meals: B,L,D)

06Day

Trek to Tengboche (3,867 m-12,687 ft) – 05hrs.

After a good rest and acclimatization in namche, We start hiking along a gradual winding wider nice path, maintained by old Sherpa man since last 2 decades doing it voluntarily for goodwill to mankind with small funds and donation from the trekkers passing on this route. We will be walking through conifer and rhododendron woodland, with the striking views of Ama Dablam, the walk further offers striking views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku and Kwangde peak, then the path descends towards Imjatse river at Phunge Tenga, After a short rest here, we start ascending through a nice serene forest to reach at Tengboche Monastery which has a well renown Buddhist Monastery and biggest in the region. This is a scenic spot with awesome views of Ama Dablam, Kangtenga, Thamserku, Kwangde, Mt. Everest and many more. You can visit inside the monastery premises while the monks are praying and see the function every day. The head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here and many believers take blessing from the high lama priest for better success and safe Journey. (Meals: B,L,D)

07Day

Trek to Dole (4,200m-13,780 ft) – 06 hrs.

We start descending to Dudhkoshi river valley and start ascending to Phortse. There are chances of seeing some wildlife around this peaceful place, like colorful Danphe pheasant (Impeyan Pheasant),  elusive musk deer and Himalayan Thar (mountain goat). Walk continues towards  Phortse Thanghka near Dudh Kosi River. After a nice break walk carries on to Dole for overnight stop, after a climb through forest of pines, birch and rhododendron trees as then it changes to juniper and conifers bushes passing small village Tongba (3,950 m-12,959.3 ft) and Gyele (3960 m-12992.1 ft) to reach Dole. (Meals: B,L,D)

08Day

Trek to Machermo (4,410m-14,468 ft) – 03 hrs.

It is an short walking day for acclimatizing before reaching to Gokyo lake.  We start hiking along the valley side on a slight level path for an hour to a settlement of Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325 m-14,189.6 ft and to Luza at 4,390 m-14,402.9 ft; with pleasant walk around the ridge top and views of Machermo village situated on a glacial valley, from the top ridge descend to Machermo for overnight stop with afternoon free at leisure for acclimatization. (Meals: B,L,D)

09Day

Trek to Gokyo (4,760m-15,616 ft) – 04 hrs.

We hike to our trekking destination at Gokyo Lake, gaining heights slowly moving further to a ridge top with fantastic views of snow-capped peaks, reaching a small place of Pangka (4,545 m-14,911.4 ft), from here walking climbs to a rocky path into ablation valley reaching first lake and second lake. We process further and reach Gokyo Lake which is the third lake and is also called Dudh Pokhari. From the bank of the lake stands Gokyo village at 4,790 m-15715.2 ft, earlier times a summer settlement of Khumbu area before trekking started, on reaching Gokyo for lunch and overnight stop, with afternoon free to acclimatize with a short walk around, Gokyo offers fabulous views of 6th world’s highest Mt. Cho Oyo and Gyachung Kang reflecting on the emerald Gokyo Lake. (Meals: B,L,D)

10Day

Hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,330-17,487 ft m trek to Machermo (4,410m-14,468 ft) – 07 hrs.

Early morning a steep climb to catch the sunrise over the tall snow capped mountains at Gokyo Ri at 5,357 m-17,575 ft, the highest point of this wonderful trek, after a steep hard climb to the top with awesome panorama views of world’s highest mountains from Mt. Cho Oyo (8,201 m-26,906 ft) straddling the border with Tibet along with Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest (8,848 m-29,029 ft), worlds 4th highest Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m-27,940 ft), Cholatse, Taweche and Mt. Makalu at 8,463 m-27,766 ft. After a great time at the top Gokyo Ri a steep descend to Gokyo lake and then continue few hours journey trek to Machermo. (Meals: B,L,D)

11Day

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m-11,286 ft) – 07 hrs.

We start descending to Dole and Phortse and start ascending for an hour and reach Mang-la. We have gentle descend to Sannasa and back to Namche Bazaar. (Meals: B,L,D)

12Day

Trek to Lukla (2,860 m-9,383 ft) – 07 hrs.

Our final day of trekking returns us to the town of Lukla from where you have begun hiking. The overnight stay gives you time to explore the town as well as reflect upon the mountains before heading back to Kathmandu. (Meals: B,L,D)

13Day

Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

The flights at Lukla operate from early morning to Kathmandu, sometimes the flight times are delayed due to unfavorable and bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small Dornier or Twin Otter plane for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu.  Upon reaching Katmandu domestic terminal Trexmount Ventures staff transfers you back to respective hotels. 14Day

Free day In Kathmandu.

This day is reserved in case of a flight delay in Lukla due to unfavorable weather conditions. You can do your own activities OR, you can do a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley with visiting fascinating world heritage and cultural sites. There are a few places that are worth visiting such as the Hindus holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Durbar Squire ( One is in Kathmandu, in patan and also in Bhaktapur), Museum,  monasteries, old historical Palaces and Gardens. 15Day

Depature

For breakfast, We will transfer to Tribhuvan International airport for departing from Nepal. (Meals: B)
