Gokyo Ri Trekking is one of Nepal’s most rewarding Trekking experiences. Trekking in Everest base camp and Gokyo Ri gives a great introduction to a challenging hiking adventure in Nepal. There are many remarkable activities in this trek. The trekkers get the most reward with reaching Everest Base Camp, hiking to Kalapather with the best 360-degree viewpoints, crossing Cho La pass (5420m), and hiking to Gokyo Ri for a magnificent view of the biggest glaciers and Gokyo Lake.
This hike includes several valleys and beautiful sights. The tranquil lakes, Nangumpa Glaciers, wildlife, vegetation, and Sherpa villages are some of the trip’s highlights. The variety of magnificent nature and local cultural exploration make your visit a wonderful experience. Hiking to Everest Base Camp and Kalapather, the highest point of the trip, at 5550 meters, is another significant part of your trekking journey.
The Journey Begins: Kathmandu to Lukla
Gokyo Ri Trekking starts with a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. The view of the great Himalayan range and breathtaking scenery makes for amazing experiences. We meet our Trexmount Venturers’ porters in Lukla. After the Refreshments and drinks, we will hike through the Dudhkosi River valley and pass through the Sherpa villages of Choplung, Ghat, and Phakding.
Entering Sagarmatha National Park and Reaching Namche Bazaar
The Gokyo Ri Trek starts through the river valley. We make our way to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Manjo, where all permits will be checked. You start ascending after crossing the high suspension bridge of Dudh Koshi River to reach Namche Bazaar. You may see Mount Everest on a clear day for the very first time on your trip route to Namche.
The Namche is a large and well-known village in the lap of Khumbila mountain. It is popular for its busy Saturday markets, delightful restaurants, Lovely Hotels, and bakeries. There are many shops and places where visitors can access ATMs, banks, post offices, and so on. There is an extra day here to enjoy and explore the village to acclimate to the altitude. The following day, we will hike to Syangboche and Khumjung village and the National Park Museum for your acclimatization.
On the acclimatization day of the Gokyo Ri trekking will continue to explore the surroundings and hike around amazing vantage points. You will hike to Syangboche as this place offers 360-degree views, including Mount Everest and many more. Exploring the quaint traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde beneath the majestic and holy Khumbi-La is highlighted. These villages are located in a glacial valley, which is the largest village in the area. You will visit the old monastery, where the only place that boasts a Yeti scalp is.
Visit to Tyangboche Monastery and Journey to Dingboche
Gokyo Ri Trekking has another special place. A visit to the spiritual Monastery in Tyangboche is paramount. This unique Monastery is the biggest in the region, which is situated in the lab of the high mountains. The visitors are allowed to go and sit inside the Monastery premises. It would make sense of spiritual life after visiting the Tyangboche Monastery. We will continue hiking following the Khumbu Valley to reach Dingboche at 4420 meters. You will spend another night here to acclimatize and hike up to Nagkar Hill (4850M) viewpoint. The Trek continues to reach Lobuche, situated at 4940m.
It is a significant day for you to hike up to Everest Base Camp today. You will start quite early to go to Everest Base Camp, situated at an epic altitude of 5,364 meters. You will make the return journey to Gorekshep after exploring Everest Base Camp. Gorekshep is the highest place for spending a night on your trekking trip.
The Trek continues & hike into the highest point of the trip, Kalapather at 5550 meters. Kalapather is offering 360 views with a breathtaking view of the Himalayas & surrounding valleys including Ama Dablam, Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Lobuche, Khumbustse & many more. After all, we will commence the hike to the challenging Cho La pass and move towards Gokyo Lake through the Ngozumpa Glaciers.
There is a magnificent, stunning view from Gokyo Ri, including Mount Everest, Gokyo lakes & Nagjumpa Glaciers surrounded by the amazing high Himalaya.
