Everest base camp trekking is a once in a lifetime adventure that takes you to the heart of the world’s highest Mountain. The Everest base camp is situated at 5,364 meters (17,598 feet). Everest Base Camp trekking offers breathtaking sights of the Khumbu Icefall, rolling glaciers, and towering Himalayan peaks around you.

A Trek Through the Land of the Sherpas

Nepal Everest Base Camp trekking is not just a moountain journey, it’s an opportunity to become exposed to the unique Sherpa culture. The trail goes through traditional Sherpa villages like Lukla, Phakding, Monjo, Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, and Dingboche. The route will encounter with very old monasteries, Buddhist prayer flags, and Mani walls that provide a close look at the Sherpa lifestyle.

The Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an area of 1,148 square kilometers, is another point of interest of this trek. The national park is home to several alpine flora, fauna and some endangered animals such as musk deer, Himalayan tahr, snow leopards, and Nepal’s national bird, the Impeyan pheasant.

Reaching Everest Base Camp

Most trekkers start their Everest Base Camp trek with a stunning 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla with views over the Himalayas. The trail then drops into the Dudh Koshi River valley, where it meanders along through villages and forests. It eventually reaches Namche Bazaar, a lively mountain town with cafes, bakeries, and local small shops.

The higher you go, the more the scenery changes from green forests to barren, rocky lands. The trek takes you to the Tengboche Monastery. One of the spiritual places, where there is breathtaking scenery in the midst of giant mountains. Then, after acclimatization and trekking for days, you reach the Everest Base Camp, the foot of the world’s highest mountain.

The climb up to Everest Base Camp is one in itself, with breathtaking views of the Khumbu Icefall, vast glaciers, and massive mountains like Nuptse and Lo-La. These mountains encase the South Face of Mount Everest. And yet, the adventure continues!

To make the journey even more memorable, we hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m), the highest point on the trek. From here, you’ll have one of the most stunning panoramic views of Everest at sunrise or sunset.

Itinerary

1Day

Arrive in Kathmandu

Arrive in kathmandu Airport, Pick up and Transfer to the Hotel. Refreshment and  We will take the pre-departure meeting at Trexmount Ventures or in the Hotel. Our manager will brief all the information about the trip and collecting your required Documents.

2Day

Kathmandu to Phakding

Kathmandu to Phakding via Lukla, Morning drive to Tribhuwan International Airport and 30 minutes flight to Lukla (2804 mtrs.) and  begin the trek  through the sherpa village goes through Thadokoshi & Ghat, where you can see many Buddhist stupa and place for cremation for Buddhist people in Ghat near Phakding (2610 m). Approx. 3 hours and 7.4 km (4.60 miles). (Meals: B,L,D)

3Day

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3438m).

Breakfast, Start hiking follow the Dudhkhosi river Valley,  get to Jorsale from where you are entering into Sagarmatha (Everest) national park. Follow the river valley & get to the one of the tallest suspension bridge in the trip from where you begin steep ascend to reach Namche Bazzar. There is also chance to see the Mt: Everest from the middle of the ascending for the first  time on your tour. Namche is known as the gateway of the Everest. We follow the valley in the beginning and heads uphill at above 3,440 meters high at Namche Bazaar, starting the morning with crossing few suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river, and then reaching at an entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. After checking the Park & Trekking tickets and permits, further walk leads on the bank of the river, then after the last high bridge an uphill walk for few hours all the way to Namche Bazaar, here we will have two nights in this large prosperous trading town –village as well the main Centre and capital of Khumbu area with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with busy colorful interesting Saturday market. Approx. 5 hours and 9.8 km (6  miles)  (Meals: B,L,D)

4Day

Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization.

An ideal and perfect place for rest day for acclimatization, We start after the breakfast to visit park museum which houses great range of information from mountaineering, flora – fauna and Sherpa culture and religions, this scenic spot offers a grand panorama of high snow capped mountains including Mt. Everest and stunning Ama Dablam. We do hike further to syangboche and Everest View Hotel for another beautiful view spot of the surrounding mountains above old Syangboche air strip. For energetic people can take a walk of few more hours visiting the sleepy Khumjung and Khunde located on a glacial valley beneath the majestic holy peak of Khumbila the patron god of Khumbu, and return back to Namche in the afternoon. Approx 3 hours 3.6 km 2.2 miles (Meals: B,L,D)

5Day

Trek to Tengboche (3,867 m-12,687 ft) – 05hrs.

After a good rest and acclimatization in namche, We start hiking along a gradual winding wider nice path, maintained by old Sherpa man since last 2 decades doing it voluntarily for goodwill to mankind with small funds and donation from the trekkers passing on this route. We will be walking through conifer and rhododendron woodland, with the striking views of Ama Dablam, the walk further offers striking views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku and Kwangde peak, then the path descends towards Imjatse river at Phunge Tenga, After a short rest here, we start ascending through a nice serene forest to reach at Tengboche Monastery which has a well renown Buddhist Monastery and biggest in the region. This is a scenic spot with awesome views of Ama Dablam, Kangtenga, Thamserku, Kwangde, Mt. Everest and many more. You can visit inside the monastery premises while the monks are praying and see the function every day. The head lama (Rinpoche) of the monastery resides here and many believers take blessing from the high lama priest for better success and safe Journey. Approx. 5 hours 9.4 km (5.8 Miles) (Meals B,L,D)

6Day

Trek to Dingboche (4360 m) – 6 hrs.

We start after the breakfast and descend to Imjatse river passing a small place of Debuche, walking into beautiful birch-rhododendron and pines forest, on reaching the strong steel bridge where the tree lines vanish for smaller juniper and rhododendron bushes, after the bridge a gentle climb to reach at Pangboche which is a great permanent village, beyond are settlement with lodges to serve the trekkers. The trail leads slowly through exposed landscapes with excellent view of  Ama Dablam at close distance, and then stopping for lunch break at Shomare popular spot for lunch and short break, after lunch on the gentle uphill to reach at Dingboche located in the wonderful Imjatse valley. Approx. 6 hours, 10.8 km (6.6 miles) (Meals B,L,D)

7Day

Rest at Dingboche for acclimatization and hike to Nagarjun hills (4820m)

A pleasant and scenic place for another acclimatize day at Dingboche, which is very important before heading higher. Today, once again we start after the breakfast and  hike to Nagarjun hills (4820m) above Dingboche offers great views of surrounding snow capped peaks with North Face of Ama Dablam soars high above Imjatse valley, views of Island / Imjatse peak and as far to world 5th highest Mt. Makalu towards further east behind Peak 29. Enjoy the afternoon relaxing or take a walk around the village. Approx. 3 hours, 5km (3.1 miles), (Meals, B,L,D)

8Day

Trek to Lobuche (4,930 m-16,175 ft) – 05 hrs.

Upon leaving Dingboche, taking a gentle uphill path to reach at a ridge festooned with prayer flags and stupas, with excellent views of the valley and snow capped peaks, all the way to Thugala. This is a small place with few tea houses where the Khumbu glacier melts into a raging icy river. We have a climb from here to reach lobuche with passing through a ridge with many memorials of the late climbers, who lost their life while climbing into the mountains. From here a pleasant walk but catching slight of altitude as it leads to Lobuche for overnight stop. Approx. 5 hours, 8.6 km (5.3 Miles) (Meals, B,L,D)

9Day

Trek to Gorakshep (5,170 m), hike to Everest Base Camp (5, 364 m-17,598 ft) and Back – 07 hrs.

This is going to be Highlighted day as we will be heading into most waited Everest Base Camp. We again start with gentle climb to Glass Pyramid house, a metrological station funded and run by Nepalese and Italian scientists, from this spot a small steep climb reaching at Khumbu glacier, we hike further through over moraine of rocks and small icy streams to reach at Gorakshep with views of Mt. Pumori, Lingtrin, Khumbutse and Mt. Everest and get ready for next venture to reach Everest Base Camp which will make dreams comes true of this adventure. We hike continue toward Everest Base Camp along the moraine and ice, on reaching at Everest Base Camp after a tiring but exciting walk, enjoy the break overlooking tip of Everest with tumbling Khumbu ice falls close to base camp, around high season for expeditions, this place will be like a Jambore with many colorful camps and busy. After a great moment feeling high return journey back to Gorakshep. Approx. 7 hours, 9.4 km (5.8 miles) (Meals, B,L,D)

10Day

Hike to Kalapatthar (5,545 m-18,192 ft) trek to Pheriche (4, 240 m-13,910 ft) – 06 hrs.

Getting up early in the morning, and hike to a steep uphill to Kalapatthar for stunning panorama view of Mt. Everest with array of surroundings peaks, this will be the highest point of this great adventure at 5,545 m, after a thrilling and breathe taking scenery with Amazing panoramic Himalayan and beautiful Khumbu glaciers.  downhill walk to Gorakshep and then continue the return journey all the way to Thugla through Lobuche and finally reach at Pheriche valley for overnight stop.

Pheriche a nice settlement just near to Dingboche over the hill towards east, this place with many good lodges with HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association) medical post with superb views of Taboche, Cholatse, Ama Dablam. Approx. 6 hours, 12.4 km (7.7 miles)   (Meals: B,L,D)

11Day

Trek to Tyangboche (3,867 m-12,687 ft) – 04:30 hrs.

After Pheriche a pleasant walk with downhill most of the way through Pangboche village. And a short climb to Tengboche for overnight stop. Approx. 4:30 hours and 8.4 km (5.2 miles) {Meals, B,L,D).

12Day

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m-11,286 ft) – 04 hrs.

Our Morning walk begins with a descent to Imjatse River at Phungetenga, after crossing the bridge a steep uphill for an hour then on the gentle winding trail all the way to Namche Bazaar for  a nice refreshing break at Namche.   Approx. 4 hours, 9.4 km (5.8 Miles) (Meals B,L,D)

13Day

Trek to Lukla (2,860 m-9,383 ft) – 07 hrs.

Our final day of trekking today. We make returns journey and continues following downhill path all the way to Dudh Kosi River valley, from here with short ups and downs reaching at Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then to Monjo village. Continue follow the river valley and reach phakdaing before heading us to the town of Lukla from where you have begun hiking. This is quite a long day but it is all doable. The overnight stay in lukla will gives you time to explore the town as well as reflect upon the mountains before heading back to Kathmandu.  Approx. 7 hours, 17.2 km (10.6 Miles) (Meals B,L,D)

14Day

Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

The flights at Lukla operate from early morning to Kathmandu, sometimes the flight times are delayed due to unfavorable and bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small Dornier or Twin Otter plane for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu.  Upon reaching Katmandu domestic terminal Trexmount Ventures representative will  transfers you back to respective hotels. (Meals B)

15Day

Free day In Kathmandu.

This day is reserved in case of a flight delay in Lukla due to unfavorable weather conditions. You can do your own activities OR, you can do sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley with visiting fascinating world heritage and cultural sites. There are few places that are worth to visit such as Hindus holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Durbar Squire ( One is in Kathmandu, in patan and also in Bhaktapur), Museum,  monasteries, old historical Palaces and Gardens. Note:  this tour is optional so you can visit with place of your interest & pay locally.  Farewell Dinner in the Evening. Meals B

16Day

Departure from Nepal.

Breakfast, We will transfer to Tribhuvan International airport for departing from Nepal. (Meals B)
