To the east, the Langtang’s upper meadows finish in a large mountain wall, creating the border with Tibet’s last 14th highest peak, MT. Shishapangma (8,013 m-26,289 ft).

Moreover, we will visit the traditional hill villages in the land of the Tamang people. Their culture and living are another highlights. Tamang people have roots from Tibet and as far to Mongolia. In addition, they have an impressive Buddhist culture and religion which similar to Tibetans across the border.

The Tamang Heritage Trek begins in Syabrubesi and ends in Dhunche. Walk to Tamang settlements in the high mid-green hills. Where the Tamang tribes, who were formerly farmers and livestock herders, are today known as guides, porters, and mountaineers. In the British and Indian forces, some Tamang are known as Gorkha troops. This adventure takes you through a magical forest of rhododendrons, oaks, pines, and fir trees. The Red Panda and other unique species call this forested area home.

We’ll hike along a beautiful trail to a high point, then through a gorge with a forested area that stands in stark contrast to the high snow-capped summits. behind the scenes. Enjoy spectacular views of the western range, including the Annapurna and Manaslu peaks in the far west, The enormous Ganesh Himal range, and the centrally positioned Langtang Lirung and Langtang Ri with Jugal Himal. Return to Kathmandu by an alternate route after a wonderful stay in the high hills and valleys.

Tamang Heritage Trail

The Tamang Heritage Trail, located north of Kathmandu Valley, is Nepal’s most accessible hiking region. You may see some of the country’s most magnificent landscape here, including terraced green farms, dense forests, and the peaks of the Langtang Himalayas. which are close to the Tibetan border. Trekking through Tamang villages is an added bonus to the natural beauty.

Several hundred years ago, the Tamang people migrated from Tibet as horse dealers and settled in hilly sections of Nepal (typically near to the Kathmandu Valley). They have kept their Tibetan heritage as well as their unique language. They have always been one of Nepal’s most neglected ethnic groups. Trekking the Tamang Heritage Trail helps the Tamang people in this area earn a living.

Gatlang Village

Gatlang village has 400 houses and a population of 3,200 people, but the majority of the residents are older people with young children. This village has nice and fancy hotels, as well as homestay accommodations for trekkers. The majority of the villagers are involved in agricultural activities such as raising livestock and trading. However, due of the hilly terraces, high altitudes, and lack of irrigation, the Tamang people in this region do not make much money from growing crops.
