Ramadong Go Peak is located south of Na in upper Rolwaling. Is a well-known climbing destination for climbers from all over the world. Ramdang-Go Peak is located near the Yalung La (5310m) pass, which provides access to higher Rolwaling. With breathtaking Himalayan views, this could be your greatest Himalayan Thunder Treks trip yet. You can see snowcapped mountains such as Gaurishankar, Melungtse, and Tashi Peak from Rolwaling high Himalayan valley.

You will be pleased by the numerous peaks, glaciers, and valleys. As well as the diverse people and cultures, as well as the continually changing scene with elevation setting. Our’ Ramdung Go Peak climbing program begins in Kathmandu and includes a culture and heritage visit. On the same day, travel to Charikot (1850m) and walk to Biguti (890m). After then, the climbing expedition continues up to Nagaou, passing Surey Dovan (1020m), Jagat (1395m), Simigaou (2000m), Kelchey (2990m), and Beding (3693m) (4200m). Finally, reach the top of Ramadung Go Peak (5925m) and return to Kathmandu via Fakding, Namche Bazaar, and Lukla, with views of Mt. Everest.

Trexmount Ventures’ adventure to Ramdong-Go Peak Climb & Tashi Labtsa La Pass begins with an interesting driving journey on the Kathmandu / Lhasa highway. This then leads to the scenic hill town of Charikot in the North East Before continuing to the adventure’s starting point by the Tama Kosi (river) in the warm rice growing area.

The journey then continues to a cooler alpine region, passing through Simigaon, the first Sherpa village. The walk continues through enchanting forested areas full of rhododendron (Nepal’s national flower), pines, and magnolia trees to reach Beding village at 3,693 meters. The beginning of the beautiful Rolwaling valley offers spectacular views of the Jugal range of the central Himalayas.

After a great rest and acclimatization day, trek to the valley’s end to reach the base of Ramdong-Go peak at about 5,100 meters. With enough time for rest and preparations before the classic climb. Our guide will provide enough information on safety measures and climbing routes, techniques, and skills required for the summit bid of the Ramdong-Go peak at 5,930 meters.

Ramdong Go Peak grade

Ramdong-Go Peak climb PD grading is based on the French and Swiss Alpine systems. And, it describes a straightforward climb with considerable technical difficulty. As well as a long walk and climb on glacier and ice slopes. Following a successful climb of Ramdung-Go to the main goal and highlight of the trip. Another adventure awaits, leading to the high pass of Tashi Labtsa at 5,755 meters. Which is quite technical after the high pass with glamorous vistas of the surrounding high mountains. Then heading downhill towards Khumbu / Everest region at Namche Bazaar. Where the colorful houses, hotels, and lodges are arranged in an amphitheater U shape.

Namche is a well-known major settlement popular with hikers arriving from both Lukla and Rolwaling areas. Every week, Namche Bazaar has a bustling Saturday market. The only site in town with ATMs, banks, post offices, and cyber cafes. As well as countless shops, delicious restaurants, and bakeries. This excellent experience and the pleasant walk end at Lukla for a spectacular flight return to Kathmandu. In the hustle and bustle of city life, following a magnificent and remarkable adventure with great service from Trexmount Ventures and its friendly staff and expert guides.

Itinerary

01Day

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Our representative will come to the airport for transfer to the Hotel. After some refreshment in the hotel, Our Tour leader will make pre departure meeting in the Hotel or at our office. The meetings will covers trip related information’s & collecting your Documents (passport copy, 2 passport size photos, Travel insurance).

02Day

Kathmandu: Free day or City Sightseeing (pay Locally for sightseeing).

After morning breakfast, free day for trek preparation. OR, you can do sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley with visiting into fascinating heritage and cultural sites. There are few places that are worth to visit such as holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Durbar Squire ( One is in Kathmandu, in patan and also in Bhaktapur), Museum,  monasteries, old historical Palaces and Gardens. Note:  this tour is optional so you can visit with place of your interest & pay locally.

03Day

Drive to Gongar 1,400 m-4,593 ft via Charikot 1554 m-5,098 ft - 07 hrs journeys.

Morning drive on the scenic Kathmandu-Lhasa highway, an interesting drive on the foothills of Himalaya country side, through many farm villages and busy towns as the drive climb leaving the main Lhasa / Kathmandu highway heading higher towards a nice town of Charikot with grand panorama of central and eastern Himalaya mountain range, after a brief stop for refreshment, drive continues from here on the rough dirt road towards a river valley of Tama Kosi passing many nice looking farm villages and small towns to reach our first overnight camp at Gongar past Jagat village, around here quite tropical warm temperature with fertile rice growing area, located on route Rolwaling valley and on route Tibet. After a pleasant long interesting drive camping by the river, with time for a splash in the chilly river.

04Day

Trek to Simigaon 2,000 m-6,561 ft- 05 hrs.

From this first night camping site beginning the adventure with a morning trek over a high hill past Tama Koshi, and narrow gorge to reach a farm village of Chetchet overlooking beautiful waterfalls, then walking around cool area, after a climb of few hours walking through rice paddy then on gentle path to reach the first Sherpa village in Simigaon for overnight camp, this small farm area mostly inhabited with Sherpa people growing corns, potatoes, wheat’s, barley and millets, after setting the camp with time to explore the local village and monastery with super views Mt. Gaurishanker and Melung Tse peak.

05Day

Trek to Dovan 2,850 m-9,350 ft - 05 hrs.

Waking up with morning views of Jugal mountain range in this nice village, starting our second day walking higher up leading into cool shade of pristine firest of rhododendron, magnolia, pines and frrs with several summer pasture with small huts and shelters of cow and yak herders on reaching a top side of the green hill, then a short descend to reach at Dovan, a small farm settlement as Dovan means confluence of two rivers or streams, overnight camp by the cool fresh streams, with time to refresh in the streams of warm day trekking.

06Day

Trek to Beding 3,690 m-12,106 ft-05 hrs.

Starting the morning walk to reach at Beding one of the main and last village around Rolwaling valley, as the trek progress on crossing Rolwaling khola (stream) where the path leads uphill into serene cool woodland of firs and rhododendron, as the walk continues coming to a small place at Nyimare and Ramding small settlement of Sheppard, with few stops in between walk leads to a climb leaving the tree lines as the gorge opens into a wide valley reaching at Beding village, a moderate Sherpa village with a monastery and a small primary school built with help of Hillary foundations. Overnight camp on the banks of Rolwaling river just below the village, here with time to relax and admire the scenery of Rolwaling valley and the mountains, towering above Beding village the massive peak Gaurishanker and Melung tse.

07Day

Rest day for acclimatization and short hike around.

An ideal spot for necessary rest day on right elevation of 3,690 meters to acclimatize well before next day adventure towards Ramdung – Go peak climb, morning at leisure visiting the last village of this trip for many days, before reaching Thame and Namche on the other side of Rolwaling valley.

08Day

Trek to Na Gaon 4,180m-13,714 ft - 04hrs.

From this nice traditional high Beding village enrich with old Sherpa culture of Buddhist religions which is similar to Tibetans across the border as Gaurishanker and Melung Tse straddles within Nepal / Tibet border. After a last look of Beding village, morning walk slowly heads to a wide exposed valley with outstanding views of snow capped mountains with Mt. Gaurishankar 7,145 m-23,442 ft and Melung Tse ( Jobo Garee) peaks 7,181 m-23,560 ft, at close distance and towards east looking over Ramdung- Go 5,930 m-19,455 ft, Chukyima go 6,259 m-20,535 ft, Tabayabyum 5,558 m-18,235 ft, and Yalung ri 5,630 m-18,471 ft group of peaks, trek continues for another few hours to reach at Na Gaon one of the last Sheppard’s temporary settlement around this beautiful Rolwaling valley, here for lunch and overnight camp with afternoon at leisure to explore this wonderful valley and Na Gaon sandwiched between high mountains.

09Day

Trek to Ramdung-go Base Camp 4,750m-15,584 ft - 05 hrs.

Morning walk leads towards southern end of the Rolwaling valley rim around Ramdung-Go and Yalung Ri peaks area, walking on rubble of rocky path where trekkers seldom venture around this hidden place of Rolwaling southern end full of snow capped peaks, after a strong trekking of more than 4 hours reaching at Ramdung-Go base camp close to Yalung Ri, Chukyima-Go and Tabayabyum peaks, finding a suitable nice space for base camp within the glaciers and moraine of these high peaks, afternoon rest and preparation for the climb where our expert guide will brief you regarding the climb and use of equipments where necessary.

10Day

Ascent of Ramdung-Go Peak 5,925 m-19,439 ft - 08 hrs.

A Big Day! Starting very early at the crack of dawn following a faint path and our guide leading towards an ice and glaciers of Ramdung – Go and Chukyima-Go, a steep climb to begin with for the final assault to reach the long ridge line that connect the summit top. The climb is straight forward with few technical section where our guide will help you by fixing ropes on tough areas, after a vigorous climb reaching the top at Ramdung-Go Peak 5,930 meters high summit; catch the super panorama of mountains that encircles this spot, after a great time and successful climb heading down on the same route to base camp or further time permitting.

11Day

Reserve and contingency day in case of bad weather condition.

This day is to allows a spare as contingency / reserve day in case of bad unusual weather situations, if all goes well as per the designated itinerary days our guide will make the decision after informing all, how and where this spare can be used before or after Tashi Labtsa on route Namche and Lukla.

12Day

Trek back to Na gaon 4,183m-13,724 ft - 04 hours.

After feeling fine on reaching our goal and highlight of this trip, next adventure will be crossing high over Tashi Labtsa –la pass, walk follows back to Na gaon for overnight camp with complete rest for next day trekking.

13Day

Trek to Kabuk at Tsho Rolpa 4,560m-14,960 ft - 05 hrs.

From Na Gaon on leaving the last settlement back to wilderness in the harmony of giant mountains, morning walk leads towards north eastern rim of Rolwaling Valley to cross a small stream reaching a small place at Sangma the last summer pasture area of Rolwaling valley. After a short rest crossing over a short wood bridge, then walk leads to a steep climb towards moraine, icy streams and then coming near Tsho Rolpa which is dammed with lot of stone works for precaution that might overflow and flood the villages below around Rolwaling area. This icy lake which is often frozen known as Cho Pokhari also, overnight camp on a sandy level small field on the southern bank of Tsho Rolpa at Kabuk overlooking peaks of Tsoboje 6,689 m and Dragker- Go 6,793 meters.

14Day

Trek to Drolambau Glacier at Tashi Laptsa BC 5,400 m-17,717 ft - 05 hrs.

This area sandwiched and enclosed between high peaks with boulders and rocks to cope on the walk from here onwards to reach the base of Tashi Labtsa, as the walk continues with the sound crackling ice beneath the glacier and moraines, after going through few obstacles section on boulders and ice reaching at the bottom of Tashi Labtsa for another adventure of this trip, overnight camp on available space on rocks of moraine close to bottom of Drolambu great wonderful looking icefalls.

15Day

Climb over Tashi Laptsa Pass 5,755m-18,881 ft to Tengpo 4,370 m-14,337 ft – 08 hrs.

Another Big Day! adventure starts early morning with a tough and long climb unto a glacial area, and then heading to a spur with gradual climb over upper glacier, here onwards ropes needs to be fixed, where our guides will make ledges on ice for all members, staff and porters for safety, as the climb slowly reach to the top ridge of Tashi Labtsa at 5,755 meters pass, which is one of the highest route of trekking in the Himalaya region, the top festooned with old prayer flags and stone piles marking the top. After a great hard climb with short rest to check that everyone is safe, at close distance from the pass lies Parchamo Peak 6,187 meters high and towards north rises Teng Ragi Tau at 6,940 meters, descend towards Khumbu area, sometimes ropes is required for safe descent. After a great adventure crossing over Tashi Labtsa walk gets better on the grassy slopes to reach at Tengpo for overnight stop, a yak summer pasture of Khumbu villagers.

16Day

Trek to Thame 3,820 m-12,533 ft - 05 hrs.

Today, after being in total wilderness in between tall mountains, morning walk leads towards Thame village on the easier downhill trail passing several shelters and herder’s huts, after a good day walk reaching Thame in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge for overnight stop after camping for many nights. Thame a quaint and sleepy village located west of Khumbu / Everest region with an oldest monastery of this area. Home of many famous and legendary climbers Tenzing Norgay Sherpa 1st Everest summiteers in May 29th 1953 and Apa Sherpa who have climbed Everest 20th times.

17Day

Trek to Namche Bazaar 3, 440 m-11,286 ft - 04 hrs.

After a wonderful time at Thame village, morning visit an interesting Thame monastery which is one of the oldest in Khumbu area, from Thame descend towards Bhote Kosi river and then uphill to reach in Thamo, with a small hydro power to support all Khumbu villages, from here into tree lines and rich vegetation leading famed Namche Bazaar, the way to Everest Base Camp and other trekking areas around upper Khumbu. Namche the market centre of Khumbu region, a largest prosperous trading town –village known as capital of Sherpa highlanders with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with a busy colorful market held every Saturday.

18Day

Morning free at Namche then trek to Monjo 2,830 m-9,284 ft - 04 hrs.

In Namche morning free, as the walk to next overnight village is just 3 hrs away on route to Lukla, after a lazy morning afternoon walk heading downhill to the confluence of Dudh Kosi river crossing few long bridges in the shade of tall pines and rhododendron trees, walking on the river bed reaching at Sagarmatha National Park after going through Jorsalle village, here at the park entrance a checking for TIMS, park permits and then a short walk brings in a nice village at Monjo in the comfort of cozy lodge with views of Khumbila the patron god of Khumbu area and Tharmasarku peak.

19Day

Trek to Lukla 2,860 m-9,383 ft - 05 hrs.

Today the last of this great adventure and trekking ending at Lukla, the walk leads on the easier path after being on the high hills and valley, reaching Lukla with a last climb for 45 minutes, at Lukla for lunch and last overnight stop, with free afternoon and to organize gratitude and farewell dinner with fellow staff and porters.

20Day

Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

At Lukla the flight operates from early morning to Kathmandu, sometimes the flight time can get delayed due to unfavorable and bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small Dornier or Twin Otter plane for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu, on reaching at Katmandu domestic terminal Trexmount Ventures staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu around Thamel area.

21Day

In Kathmandu with cultural tour at places of interest.

This day reserved day in case of flight delay in Lukla due to unfavorable weather conditions, on this extra free day you can book for sightseeing tour, in our interesting cultural heritage tour around Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan this cities full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquake.

22Day

Departure
