Annapurna Base Camp We have just returned from a wonderful trek in Nepal. We were 7 ladies from New Zealand heading for Annapurna Base Camp. Many thanks Hari and his team at Trexmount Ventures provided us with great porters and guide Raj. It was NOT a walk in the park – – as with anything in the Himalayas – it was a challenge for us as we were all over “retirement age ” but determined to prove that we could do it. The trail was up and down ( Himalayan flat !!) and many many steps but on day 6 when we got to Base camp – it was worth the sweat and tired bodies. It snowed overnight so the scene that greeted us at sunrise was spectacular. No words to express the majestic mountains towering over us as we stood at 4130 meters. The thought of a 3 days trek back was a bit daunting for 3 ladies so they opted to get helicopter back to Pokhara. They said the scenery flying back over the valleys and lower hills was well worth the money !!! We 4 continued to plod down – more ups and downs but returned to the hotel at Pokhara, with a certain pleasure that we had completed the task in hand. once again, Many thanks Hari for arranging the helicopter.
